About Sarah

I have always been an athlete. I started diving at age 4 and continued through until I was 18 and sidelined by a back injury. After completing physical therapy, I began to appreciate how much lifting (or any training out of the water) improves overall athletic performance. While going to school for Management, I also became certified as a personal trainer and started working in the field while in college.

Turning Point

As I continued to work with people and improve upon my physical fitness, I realized how much I enjoyed seeing my efforts improve how other people lived their lives. After completing my degree in Management, I thought I should apply it in a field outside of the sports world. That lasted a little over a year. That experience was what I needed to show me that I needed to go back to athletics. I accepted the position of Director of Health and Wellness with the Greater Hartford YMCA in February 2017 and haven’t looked back. My job inspired me to continue my education and get my Masters in Sports Management with the hope to spend the back half of my career in either a high school or collegiate athletic department.

Passion & Motivation

I coach because I am good at it, it’s something that comes naturally to me. Not only do I have the credentials and experience to coach CrossFit, I am certified through the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference in concussion management and as a coach. I started coaching diving at E.O. Smith high school in 2007 to share my passion, experience, and knowledge of diving. I continue to do this in the Summer as the diving coach at the South Windsor Swim Club, as well as private diving coaching. If I had to highlight one skill I have as my best, it would be that through my 12 years of coaching diving and 9 years of coaching CrossFit, I have developed a keen eye for movement and am able to provide expert level advice on how to improve how an athlete moves in order to improve how they perform
